The mountain community of Batesville will again be celebrating its history and heritage on October 23rd, 2010.  The 12th Annual Batesville Historic Celebration will be held behind the fire station in downtown Batesville, Hwy 197 at St. Hwy. 255.  The one day celebration will take place from 10 am to 4 pm.

Eleven years ago the Batesville community Association started the celebration as a way of supporting the fire department and at the same time celebrate the families and ancestors of this mountain community.

Demonstrators from Batesville and nearby communities show a glimpse of life in the early 1900s.  Even the music played all day is of the early 20th century.

The event and parking is free.  Call 706-947-1601 for additional information.

Old time black-smithing, wood-carving, wool spinning, still show much of the ingenuity of early settlers.

As always, free horse and buggy rides for all.  Other activities for the family include a petting zoo and even an old time cake-walk.  Paddle boat rides are available at the lake, and for the kids, face painting and balloon art.
